• Parz lake is a high mountain lake. The lake is located on a height of 1350 meters above sea level. Lake has a landslide origin. The length of Parz is 300 meters and the width is 100 meters. Average depth is approximately 3 meters, but in can go up 10 meters in certain parts of the lake.
18 km north of the resort town of Dilijan, along the Aghstev River, you will meet the village of Aghartsin ("game of eagles"). The Haghartsin Monastery complex, one of the wonders of Armenian medieval architecture, is located nearby. The exact date of construction of the monastery is unknown. According to historians, the monastery was gradually built from the 10th to the 13th centuries. Due to numerous enemy raids, as well as earthquakes, the monastery buildings and churches were repeatedly destroyed and restored. It is known that the monastery of Haghartsin flourished from the 12th to the 13th centuries. It was at this time that the monastery is mentioned in various historical sources as one of the most important and leading scientific and cultural centers of medieval Armenia.
We also want to talk about the education in Dilijan. One of the bright and successful examples of it is "Ayb" school.
In 2013, Ayb Educational Foundation, in collaboration with the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, opened the Dilijan Central School in Dilijan, which is a part of the Ayb School Family and was the first school project implemented by the fund through an external order and funding. The result of the cooperation between Ayb Educational Foundation and the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia was the creation of a model of a city school, accessible not only for children of Central Bank employees but also for other families living in Dilijan. At the same time, the conditions for studying at school are the same for absolutely all children. The Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia compensates all the costs for education of each student.
Goshavank monastery is located in the middle of picturesque mountain forests, near the village of Gosh, not far from the resort of our Dilijan Residence.
Goshavank is a magnificent instance of medieval Armenian architecture.
The monastery was an outstanding educational center. Many ancient books were stored here, people were engaged in music, languages were studied and various manuscripts were written in the Goshavank. Initially, this area was the site of an older monastery called Getik, thus Goshavank is sometimes called "Nor Getik" ("New Getik").
The building of the Getik monastery was destroyed by a powerful earthquake, and in the Middle ages it was decided to be restored.
The outstanding Armenian philosopher and writer Mkhitar Ghosh personally participated in all the works related to the restoration and reconstruction of the monastery complex. It was in his honor that the monastery was named Goshavank - "Gosh temple".
The real "pearl" of the Goshavank complex is the khachkars of the end of the 13th century made by a talented master Pogos. Two khachkars stand on special pedestals on both sides of the entrance to the Church of Grigor Lusavorich (Gregory the Illuminator).
Khachkars are admired for their exquisite, elegant carvings that resemble artfully woven lace, therefore they are also called "embroidered khachkars".
